Extending Our Circle of Compassion
Putting our faith into action one partnership, one community, one act of generosity at a time.
At SepulvedaUU, generosity is more than an act of giving/ It’s a spiritual practice. Each month, we extend our ministry beyond our congregation by sharing our resources with organizations that are building a more compassionate, just, and hopeful world.
Our 2nd Sunday offering each month is designated to support a nonprofit organization or community initiative whose work reflects our Unitarian Universalist values. Through these offerings, we affirm that our congregation is part of something larger: a community of people working together to care for our neighbors, protect our planet, and advance justice for all.
Throughout the year, our Board of Trustees thoughtfully selects partner organizations that represent a broad range of community needs and justice concerns. We seek a balance between organizations that provide immediate relief – such as food security, housing, disaster response, and community care – and those working to address the root causes of inequality through education, advocacy, environmental stewardship, civil rights, and systemic change.
Many of our recipients emerge from conversations within the congregation. We also continue to nurture long-standing relationships with trusted community partners while remaining open to discovering new organizations whose missions align with our shared values.
Giving through the Matching Funds Program is one way our congregation lives out our commitment to be a force for love and justice in the wider world. Together, our individual gifts become a collective expression of hope, demonstrating that meaningful change is possible when communities work side by side.
We invite you to learn more about the organizations we have supported since 2022 and to consider supporting their important work throughout the year through volunteering, advocacy, or additional financial contributions.
