Pottery Studio

Shape clay. Share stories.
Discover what your hands already know.
There’s something almost magical about working with clay.
It asks us to slow down. To pay attention. To begin again. To laugh when something collapses. To celebrate when something unexpected becomes beautiful.
As it turns out, clay has a lot to teach us about life.
It reminds us that life can be messy, that our first attempts rarely turn out exactly as planned, and that growth takes patience and practice. It teaches us to loosen our grip, to embrace imperfection, and to recognize that even broken pieces can become part of something beautiful.
This year, as we explore our congregational theme, Horizons of Hope: Faith for the Journey Ahead, our Pottery Studio invites us to shape more than bowls and mugs. We’ll shape friendships, conversations, creativity, and community. Each month we’ll draw inspiration from our monthly themes, allowing ideas of vision, belonging, compassion, wonder, and hope to naturally emerge around the pottery wheel and worktable.
No experience is necessary. Whether you’ve worked with clay for years or have never touched a lump of it before, you’ll find a welcoming, supportive environment where experimentation is encouraged and mistakes are simply part of the creative process.
Not interested in making pottery? While pottery brings us together, it’s only part of the experience. You’re still invited.
Our weekly gatherings have become known for lively conversation, laughter, and friendship. As hands stay busy creating, conversations naturally wander from grandchildren and gardening to travel, books, current events, spirituality, and the little joys and challenges of everyday life. Jazz plays softly in the background, stories are exchanged, ideas are shaped alongside the clay, and friendships grow almost as naturally as the pottery itself.
Many participants simply come to enjoy the company, listen to the music, share a favorite bottle of wine or another beverage, and be part of the conversation. Some evenings the best creations aren’t made from clay at all. They’re the memories we make together.
Our Pottery Studio is a welcoming place for adults of all skill levels, and children are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Whether you’re looking for a creative outlet, meaningful conversation, or simply a relaxing evening in good company, there’s a place waiting for you.
Bring your curiosity. Bring a favorite beverage to share if you’d like. We’ll provide the clay, the tools, the jazz, and the community. Together, we’ll discover that hope, like pottery, is something we shape with our own hands.
Materials Fee: Approximately $20 per month, depending on the number of pieces you create.
